Frequently Asked Questions

What does the school calendar look like? How long is the school day?
Students begin school in September. The school day is 8:20 AM – 3:20 PM Monday through Friday. Students may arrive at 8:00 AM to eat breakfast at school.

What is the student teacher ratio? How many students will be in each classroom?
We believe that small class sizes allow the teacher time to work closely with every student to meet individual needs. Our average class size is 22-25 students per homeroom. For kindergarten-2nd grade, there will be one certified lead teacher per class, supported by a certified co-teacher.

Does the school admit students with education needs or who are learning English?
Yes. Our schools are open to all students. Our principal and teachers work closely with parents and the Committee on Special Education to ensure that all students’ needs are met. Services currently provided at the school include speech, occupational therapy, physical therapy, counseling, and special education teacher support services. Additionally, we have certified, experienced ESL teachers who provide language instruction and support to students learning English.

Does the school provide transportation to students?
Yes. NYC DOE Office of Pupil transportation (OPT) provides yellow bus service or MetroCards to eligible students. Eligibility is based upon distance from student’s home to the school and the student’s grade. Citizens of the World Williamsburg currently has over 20 bus stops across Brooklyn, with the possibility of adding additional stops based on the needs of our families.
