Social Studies


Using New York State Standards as the basis for Social Studies curriculum, CWC teachers create project based learning units that integrate core content areas, including reading, writing, math, art, dance, and music. Students use an inquiry-based approach to explore core social studies content and demonstrate their mastery of the content through structured performances of understanding and culminating projects.


  • Curriculum: Unit resources from other Citizens of the World schools, SEL Resources
  • Purpose:  Social Studies content is taught during this time through project-based and inquiry-based learning. Students engage with other students and develop/practice awareness of self and others.
  • Time Allocation: 25 – 60 minutes/day (varies daily).
